HOW TO APPLY

Surface Preparation

• Ensure that the plumbing system is leak-free with a pressure test. Rectify the leakages if present before commencement of waterproofing application.

• Remove all the loosely adhering material like dirt, dust, organic solvent (de-shuttering/curing free compound) & oil etc. from the surface by using emery paper, chisel, or wire brush etc.

• In case of efflorescence, remove the plaster up to the brick level and clean the masonry surface thoroughly.

• Surface cracks (less than 3mm) must be filled by crack filler products & bigger cracks (more than 3mm), honeycombing in concrete, damaged portion and hollow areas must be repaired by polymer modified mortar/ polymer modified fibre reinforcement repair mortal before application.

• Surface should be pre-wetted to make saturated surface dry (SSD) condition.

Mixing

• Mixing ratio - Powder: Liquid = 2:1

• Slowly add 2 kg of powder product with 1 kg of liquid polymer to make slurry.

• Mixing should be carried out preferably by a mechanical stirrer (3-5 minutes).

• Leave the slurry for 5 minutes after thorough mixing to release trapped air, to get the best performance. Prepared slurry should be used within the pot life.

Product Application

• After thorough mixing apply the first coat of Seep Blocker 2K on the clean & dry wall/substrate surface uniformly with the help of painting brush.

• Allow the surface to dry for at least 5-6 hours & then apply second coat of the product. Application of second coat must be applied in crosswise direction for better results.

• The total thickness of both the coats should be limited to maximum 1 to 1.2 mm.

• Waterproofing should be carried at least 300 mm on the vertical surfaces above the floor finish level. For the splash zone of shower in bathroom, the waterproofing should be carried out to 1.8 metre to 2.1 metre. In other wet areas the vertical surface should be waterproofed for a minimum height of 150 mm.

• The treatment should be left as is for 3-5 days to air cure before carrying out ponding test.

Ponding Test

• Conduct a 48-hour ponding test at a 50mm depth after closing all outlets and address any water seepage or leakage with remedial actions.

Protective Screed

• Upon successful completion of the ponding test, a layer of 10mm Cement/Sand (Ratio 1:4) protective screed, using an integral waterproofing compound shall be applied on top of the membrane.

• If drainage pipes are laid on floor, the minimum thickness of screed should be 20 mm.

Re-plastering & Putty application (interior vertical walls)

• For interior vertical walls, re-plaster the surface by using integral waterproofing compound @ 250 gms/50 kg bag of cement. Allow the plastered surface to cure for 7 days before the application of two coats of Birla White Wallseal Waterproof Putty.

• Apply interior primer followed by topcoat paint to get superior finished surface.
